City Council Agenda for February 2nd Meeting

 

The City Council for the City of Buena Vista will meet on Thursday, February 2, at 6 pm in City Council Chambers located at 2039 Sycamore Avenue.  The agenda is as follows:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 19, 2017.

CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES:
BUENA VISTA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY:
Mr. Fred Schultz’s term will expire on March 31, 2017. This is a four year term and the first time this item has appeared on the agenda. Mr. Schultz does not want to serve again. Will advertise The News Gazette February 1, 2017; Web site January 25, 2017; Twitter January 25, 2017; Already on Channel 18.

Mr. Casey Crookston’s term will expire on March 31, 2017. This is a four year term and the first time this item has appeared on the agenda. Mr. Crookston is willing to serve again if re-appointed. Will advertise The News Gazette February 1, 2017; Web site January 25, 2017; Twitter January 25, 2017; Already on Channel 18.

Mr. Ronnie Slough’s term will expire on March 31, 2017. This is a four year term and the first time this item has appeared on the agenda. Mr. Slough is willing to serve again if reappointed. Mayor Delivers State of the City Address

 

Mayor Larry Tolley presented the State of the City address as Buena Vista’s Mayor at the annual Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on Wednesday, January 4th in Lexington.  The event gives the business community an opportunity to hear the activities within Rockbridge County and the cities of Buena Vista and Lexington.  Mayor Tolley focused on infrastructure development, economic growth, regional cooperation and future plans in his address.  You can read Mayor Tolley’s full remarks by clicking here.

 

 

City seeks volunteers to serve on Labor Day Committee

 

The City of Buena Vista is looking for volunteers to serve on the 2017 Labor Day Committee.  2017 is the City of Buena Vista’s 125 anniversary and the committee will work to develop programming for the event.  If you are interested in serving on the committee, contact Dawn Wheeler at dwheeler@bvcity.org.

 

 

Adopted Budget Document Available to Citizens

 

The City of Buena Vista’s Adopted Budget for FY 2016-17 is available to the public electronicly on the City of Buena Vista website.  A hard copy of the document will be available for public viewing at the Finance Director’s Office for the City of Buena Vista.  You can access the document by visiting the Finance Committee page of the website or by clicking here.
