City Council Agenda for June 1 Meeting

 

The City Council for the City of Buena Vista will meet on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.  The agenda is as follows:

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
FY 2017 MUNICIPAL BUDGET AMENDMENT CITY OF BUENA VISTA

The City of Buena Vista intends to grant an additional appropriation to its Fiscal Year 2017 budget. Accordingly, the City will conduct a public hearing on June 1, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. or shortly thereafter in the Council Chambers, 2039 Sycamore Avenue, Buena Vista, Virginia. The hearing will be conducted to receive public input on the budget amendment.

The hearing will be open to the public. Any person desiring to be heard will be given the opportunity to present oral or written testimony within reasonable time limits as determined by the City Council. The proposed amendment will appropriate the following amounts in addition to those appropriations contained in the previously adopted budget for Fiscal Year 2017.

RECOGNITION/COMMUNICATION FROM VISITORS: Citizens who desire to speak on matters not listed on the agenda below will be heard at this time. Citizens who desire to speak on a specific item listed on the agenda, open for public comment, will be heard when that item is considered.

APT #1 ROCKBRIDGE DISABILITY SERVICES BOARD:  Mr. Robert Fix’s term will expire on January 31, 2018.

NEW BUSINESS:
PRESENT A PROCLAMATION FOR THE 50TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE BUENA VISTA FIRE DEPARTMENT AUXILIARY.’

FIRST READING OF A BUDGET AMENDMENT ORDINANCE.

 

Mayor Delivers State of the City Address

 

Mayor Larry Tolley presented the State of the City address as Buena Vista’s Mayor at the annual Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on Wednesday, January 4th in Lexington.  The event gives the business community an opportunity to hear the activities within Rockbridge County and the cities of Buena Vista and Lexington.  Mayor Tolley focused on infrastructure development, economic growth, regional cooperation and future plans in his address.  You can read Mayor Tolley’s full remarks by clicking here.

 

 

City seeks volunteers to serve on Labor Day Committee

 

The City of Buena Vista is looking for volunteers to serve on the 2017 Labor Day Committee.  2017 is the City of Buena Vista’s 125 anniversary and the committee will work to develop programming for the event.  If you are interested in serving on the committee, contact Dawn Wheeler at dwheeler@bvcity.org.
