The City of Buena Vista understands the need for a effective communications system to provide information, enhance the economy, and protect the safety of our community.  Buena Vista is proud to be a member of the Rockbridge Area Network Authority (RANA).  RANA is developing a broadband network to enhance the reliability, speed and cost effectiveness of our network.  For more information, visit www.ranabroadband.net.

 

Current Communication Providers:

 

Telephone: Embarq. Cellular providers include US Cellular, Ntelos, Verizon, AT&T, and many more.

 

Newspaper: Three local newspapers: The News-Gazette, Rockbridge Weekly and the Rockbridge-Advocate. Home delivery is available from three metropolitan dailies: The Washington Post, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, and the Roanoke Times and World News.

 

Television: The major networks are received from Lynchburg and Roanoke. The local affiliates are CBS (WDBJ), NBC (WSLS), ABC (WSET), and FOX (WFXR). Cable television is provided by Comcast Cable.

 

Radio: WREL 96.7FM and 1450AM are the local stations. Reception of numerous stations from Lynchburg and Roanoke are available.

 

Internet: Broadband available through Rockbridge Global Village (DSL), Comcast (Cable), Ntelos (wireless), and Embarq (DSL). Numerous dial-up providers including Nexet, Ntelos, and Rockbridge Global Village.

 

Freight / Parcel: All major couriers, including UPS, FedEx, and DHL.
