NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The County of Rockbridge, the City of Lexington, and the City of Buena Vista will consider the creation of a regional Commission, The Rockbridge Regional Fire and Rescue Commission, to improve relations and communication between the emergency services organizations and the Localities and to improve the provision of fire and rescue services throughout the region for the benefit of all residents. The initial purpose of the Commission will be to advocate for fire and rescue services in relations between individual departments and/or squads, the public, and/or the Local Governments and to consider and make recommendations on any matters or issues involving or relating to fire and rescue services.

The Commission will consist of 9 members: 1 Operational Medical Director , 1 representative from the County of Rockbridge, 1 representative from the City of Lexington, 1 representative from the City of Buena Vista, 2 representatives from the Rockbridge County Firefighters Association (RCFA), 2 representatives from the Rockbridge Emergency Rescue Group (RERG), and 1 citizen/consumer representative of the Rockbridge region.
