Comprehensive Committee

Members present: Larry Tolley (arrived 6:28 PM), Lewis Plogger, Tim Petrie, Robert Huch,(left 6:50 PM) Richard Roberts, Mrs. Lewis Ferrebee, Tim Dudley, Tim Reamer, Robert Luke, and Elizabeth McCarty Absent Todd Jones

Elizabeth McCarty opened the meeting and presented a power point presentation on Buena Vista “Population Information”. Discussion was held throughout the presentation and after the presentation, it was discussed that it was rather surprising that only about 10% of the Buena Vista population has a Bachelors degree. Various issues were discussed on how to find out what is the attitude of school children.

The community survey done by the Economic Development Department –Tim Reamer was discussed and some of the trends that it presented.

The community survey will be put in the March newsletter.

Drop boxes for the surveys were discussed and where to put them with no firm conclusion.

Ad hoc appointees were discussed and it was the feeling of the committee to notify them one month in advance and invite them to the next meeting..

People suggested for the Economic Data subject for the February meeting were:

Don Driscoll, Todd Brotherson, Sammy Moore, Gary Keener, T.P Drahos, Tim Petrie asked that Dennis Hawes be invited, Richard Roberts asked that Rebecca Gates be invited through an e-mail.

The next Comprehensive Plan Meeting will be held on February 17, 2009 at 5:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at 2039 Sycamore Ave. Discussion will be about Economic Data. With discussion and input from Don Driscoll, Todd Brotherson, Sammy Moore, T P Drahos, Dennis Hawes, and Rebecca Gates and the Comprehensive Committee. The public are more than welcome to come and listen and participate.
